故事发生在民国初年的东岳泰山。泰山刘氏武馆馆主刘文虎每年都以重金为诱饵设擂比赛。连续几年他都打败了前来挑战的武林高手。于是称霸称王，横行乡里，欺压百姓，抢占民女。泰山石头功传人石小义看在眼里，气在心里。一年一度的泰山武术擂台赛如期举行，刘文虎又连挫几大高手后洋洋得意。这时，石小义跳上擂台与刘文虎展开了激烈地厮杀，他用祖传的石头功打败了刘文虎，用真正的泰山功夫教育了不可一世的刘文虎。继而在以后的比武中互相切磋武艺，共同提高武功，最后实现团结联合，构建和谐武林。

一场车祸夺去了两个动物学家兄弟的妻子，随后，他们一边迷恋着那个在车祸中失去一条腿的女人，一边用摄影机记录各种动物尸体腐烂的过程。在影片静态的画面中，那些鳄鱼、小狗、天鹅、斑马的尸体一点点地变黑、干瘪、喷出腐水、爬出蛆虫。最终，女人那条剩下的腿也;渐渐死去、被截除，她在生下一对属于两兄弟的双胞胎之后死去。两兄弟则在镜头前注射毒剂，把自己的尸体作为最后一种研究和展示对象。
华裔杰森（Terry Chen 饰）和白人女子莎拉（Jaime King 饰）结为夫妇，常年居住上海。为了参加一场葬礼，他们带着年仅6岁大的儿子山姆回到北美。但是离奇事件接连发生，山姆不断撞鬼，最后更在一个夜晚被鬼迷住，不省人事。杰森夫妇四处求医皆不见成效，眼见儿子病情越来越重，无奈之下他们向巫医求救。从巫医处得知，当时正值鬼月临近，野鬼横行，山姆的灵魂被一个冤死的鬼魂摄去。杰森只有帮助鬼魂们完成心愿才能拯救儿子的性命。杰森只得同意，却因此揭开了一个被隐藏多年的残忍血案……
